BREAKOUT CAMP:
This week is going to be packed full of
games, competitions, skits, swimming, and plenty more that you'll
discover as the week goes on.
To help you prepare
for this week, here are a few reminders:
-
Bring a swimsuit
(girls-please wear one piece suits or Tankinis with no more than a
one inch separation), towel, bug repellent,
closed-toe shoes, and a dry change of clothes--just in case).
-
Bring a lunch and
plenty of water to sustain you through the afternoon and evening.
Wed we will provide a meal.
-
Be prompt at 3pm so
we can play hard until 10pm each evening.
Every afternoon we will
begin at the CCD Deck, so have your parents enter the Smith-Barry
gate to drop you off there. Pickup will be at the front gate
off Sarah Dr.
If you have any
questions, feel free to call the camp @817-274-8441. <top>
GETAWAY CAMP:
This week is going to be packed full
of activities, worship, free-time, and learning.
To help you prepare
for this week, here are a few reminders:
-
Bring a swimsuit
(girls-please wear one piece suits or Tankinis with no more than a
one inch separation), towel, bug repellent, closed-toe shoes
-
Pack clothes for
active days, not your best "afraid to get dirty" clothes.
-
We'll email you a
specific list of what to bring a couple of weeks before the camp
date.
-
All of your meals
will be provided, beginning with supper on Sunday and ending with
supper on Thursday.
-
You will need to
bring bedding.
-
There is a boys
dormitory- and girls dormitory-style building for sleeping.
Your parents will need
to drop you off in Flower Mound on Sunday afternoon between 3:30 and
4:30. We will send specific driving directions, but it is only
about 45 minutes from the Camp Thurman campgrounds, and of course,
for some of you, it is much closer.
Then they will pick you up on Thursday evening between 7:00 and
8:00.
If you have any
questions, feel free to call the camp @817-274-8441. <top>
7th GRADE LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP:
We have recruited some of
our most experienced counselors to be a part of this special
training camp, and everyone is looking forward to spending this time
with you.
To help you prepare
for the week, here are a few reminders.
-
Bring a swimsuit,
towel, bug repellent, flip flops, tennis shoes, and a dry change
of clothes each evening. This way you'll be prepared for any
surprises we have in store for you.
-
Wear dark clothing
on Friday night as we have a special night game planned.
-
Eat before you come,
but bring a snack and plenty of water to sustain you through the
evening.
We will begin each night at the Marketplace and then lead into
group initiatives, teambuilding, and low element challenges.
The remainder of the evening will include training in harnessing,
performing skits, processing group activities, swimming, leading
and playing games, etc. Our goal is for you to complete this
week with a great sense of what it's like to be a part of the Camp
Thurman staff family.At
the
conclusion of this week, you will be
given the opportunity to work a day at camp during the following
week. The time slots will be posted, and you may sign up for
one of them. The times are from 7:45 to 4:30 Monday thru
Friday. Sign up sheets will be made available during the camp.
And finally, just a reminder on the
night camp hours: 6-10 every evening, Monday through Friday.
Also, we ask everyone to wear modest swim suits (girls, this should
be a one piece or Tankinis with no more than a one inch separation).
If you have any questions, feel
free to call the camp at 817-274-8441 or Hummer at 817-648-2717.

Afternoon/Evening ETC CAMP:
This week is going to be packed full of
new activities, team challenges, skits, swimming, games, high
ropes, and excited counselors.
To help you prepare
for this week, here are a few reminders:
-
Bring a swimsuit
(girls-please wear one piece suits or Tankinis with no more than a
one inch separation), towel, bug repellent, closed-toe shoes, and
a dry change of clothes--just in case).
-
Bring an evening
meal in a insulated cooler or backpack for each evening except
Friday - when we'll provide the meal.
-
Be prompt at 3pm so
we can play hard until 10pm each evening. Remember, drop-off
is at the Smith Barry gate and pick-up at the Sarah Dr. gate.
Each afternoon will
begin in the newly-air conditioned Rattler's Retreat to lay out
plans for the day, a Bible sharing time, and some team challenge
strategy. By 3:45 we'll be out in the field with our first
activity, and we won't stop until "dinner time". After dinner and skits, we'll jump back into our
Extreme Challenge schedule and play hard until time for pickup at
10pm.
