Camp Thurman Plays Host to Leaders from International American Camping Association Camps
On Monday, February 11th, the Camp Thurman staff was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time with a group from the International Camping Fellowship (ICF). While in town for the 2013 American Camp Association National Convention in Dallas, over 50 members of ICF, from camps in Russia, China, Australia, Canada and beyond, came to tour the Camp Thurman grounds. CT was chosen by ICF directors to display its uniqueness in being a day-camp in the middle of the city that appeals to so many great kiddos. Tyc, Hummer, Yippee, Pearl and Tarzan gave ICF members tours of the camp grounds, answered questions about day-to-day operations at CT, and displayed the activities and facilities offered for CT campers. Our staff more than enjoyed spending time showing these fellow camp enthusiasts what it is we do here at CT! Cultural and language barriers were certainly evident, but the common passion all of these individuals share for children and the love of the camp world made for a day of great fun and lots of learning. We at CT are so grateful to have made these connections and wish God's abundant blessings on all of these special individuals and their camps!
