Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

— Mathew 28:19-20 (NIV)

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

— Matthew 22:37-39

This is Bonanza’s eighth summer working at Camp Thurman and she absolutely loves it. She came every year she could as a camper and she is so excited to welcome your campers to the CT family. She has worked Uncle Bill’s, Day-Camp, ETC, and Breakout camps as well as ropes elements and Mission Arlington days at Camp Thurman and last year she had a lead position at CT. Bonanza just got back from studying abroad in Spain in the first part of the summer where she interned at a bilingual/special needs school in Salamanca and observed how the children developed, the different teaching styles, and the difference in cultures. She also lived with a host family, attended the University in Salamanca where she took Spanish classes, and traveled throughout Europe in order to get immersed in the culture, sharpen her Spanish skills, and to experience life in new ways.

Bonanza is a senior at Texas Tech University and graduates in December 2017. She is majoring in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Spanish. She finds it interesting seeing how people develop throughout time, why we do the things we do, and how the family system works. She has a practicum this upcoming fall at either CASA or Buckner which both deal with the foster care system as well as with families involved and she will get the chance to observe the process and make a difference in the families lives. She loves working with people and after she graduates she wants to work with non-profits, do social work, do mission work, use her degrees to reach people and serve the Lord while doing it, and help the community out in whatever way she can. She is thrilled to meet your camper and is so excited to make CT a memorable experience for them.
