The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.

— Psalm 28:7 (ESV)

“Jenga is a first year counselor here at Camp Thurman, but has spent many summers at CT over the years! She was a camper for 5 years and worked as an assistant for one year before she became a counselor. Ever since her first experience at day camp as an 8-year-old girl, it has been her dream to become a counselor at CT! Jenga graduated from Martin High School and will be attending The University of Texas at Arlington as a nursing major in the fall. She loves biology, health and working with children, and hopes to incorporate all of these in her future profession as a nurse.

Jenga knows the Lord has called her to pour into the lives of children by being a friend and a mentor to every child she leads. She has been so thankful to have had so many opportunities to work with children in the past several years as a volunteer in the children’s ministry at her church, a coach in the Upward sports league, and as an intern in the Ready, Set, Teach program at her high school. Camp Thurman holds a very special place in Jenga’s heart not only because she has spent many summers there, but also because it provides an atmosphere that she LOVES. Being at Camp Thurman means spending beautiful days in God’s amazing creation, loving and leading her sweet campers, and being encouraged every day to know and love her Heavenly Father.
