However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him.

— 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)

Cross #6

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

— Matthew 22:37-39

Toothpick was born and raised in Arlington Texas and is very excited to be serving this year at Camp Thurman. This is his first year to work as a Counselor at camp. As a boy, Toothpick attended Camp Thurman for many summers and his favorite activity has always been the Tarzan Swing. Toothpick grew up in church his whole life but experienced a spiritual awakening in the eighth grade at a Planetshakers conference. He has been passionately on fire for God ever since and goes to church and revival meetings whenever he has the time. He weekly attends the church of Faith Christian Center and volunteers in the worship team as a bass guitarist. In addition to this, Toothpick volunteers as the leader of the Children’s Church Sound Department. This school year, Toothpick had the privilege of graduating as Salutatorian of his high school class from St. Paul’s Preparatory Academy. This September, he will be enrolled as a freshman to Texas A&M University and will be majoring in Accounting. Toothpick loves Camp Thurman because he believes camp allows kids to grow spiritually, physically, and mentally. Since he was impacted by the ministry and counselors at Camp Thurman, he sees this as a chance to give to other children the same experiences and advice that he had growing up. He believes his role as a counselor is to be used by God to help the campers experience excitement, joy, and Christianity, through the experience of Camp Thurman.
